Perfume Making - Advanced Five Day Course

Course Description

If you are keen to learn about all aspects of perfumery and want to create custom perfumes either out of personal interest or as a business, then this five day advanced course is the one for you.

You’ll be taught by the master, our chief perfumer, John Stephen who will pass on his knowledge in an engaging and informative manner as he describes the process involved in making commercially viable perfumes.

You’ll learn how to create complex fragrances, discover the professional requirements for perfume creation and understand the legislation involved. This course covers essential components of an advanced perfume course including toxicology, allergens and packaging requirements.

You’ll spend much of the time experimenting with a different selection of interesting ingredients which you will be introduced to and you will make samples of your very own bespoke perfumes to take home with you, together with their specification so that you can reorder them and/or refine and develop them further.

In order to check the health and legal requirements associated with your perfume specifications an automated Spreadsheet procedure is used. This advanced course includes a day of painless top up Spreadsheet training. Laptops are required with Excel installed.

The cost of our courses include refreshments as well as lunch in a pretty riverside restaurant in beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water.

As this is a five day course we are delighted to offer our own 5 Star Gold Awarded accommodation at discounted rates, see course details below for further information. Availability is limited so if you are interested in staying with us please email as soon as possible to check availability. Our accommodation website shows the apartments but the dates will show as unavailable as we automatically reserve them for course dates.

If you have previously completed the Level One Course and you do not wish to do this again, as part of this advanced combined course, we will refund you £245. Just send us an email after booking and we will process this.

Course Features

If you wish to make perfume for others or set up your own business in perfumery, this is the course for you. Our Chief Perfumer John Stephen will share his expert knowledge with you and teach you the principles of making commercially viable perfumes.

This is a five-day (Wed-Sun) course where attendees create their own fragrances and produce the required documentation for commercialisation.

This course is open to those who wish to create custom perfumes for personal interest or commercially. The course, which is very hands-on, takes participants through the creation of complex fragrances. It also incorporates theory regarding the professional requirements for perfume creation; including legislation.

A wide selection of materials is used.

The group size is restricted to allow one-to-one support and guidance.

Laptops are required with Excel installed. A limited number are available on loan from us if needed but you are advised to bring your own if possible. This course includes Spreadsheet training for those of you who aren’t familiar with Excel, or need a refresher.

By the end of the course you will:

  • understand the role of a creative perfumer.
  • learn how to produce the necessary documentation to conform to regulations.
  • appreciate (by hands-on participation) the side-effect of the addition of even very small quantities of some raw materials.
  • become familiar with the legal issues regarding the transportation of perfumes.
  • be provided with a set of template documents which will streamline your perfume making documentation.
  • be equipped to start creating commercially viable fragrances.

Points to Note:

  • For overseas participants, please note that we only currently offer courses in English.
  • The legislation covered in the course is European Law, and whilst
there is considerable convergence worldwide there are still variations
outside Europe that are not covered on the course.
